Solanalink Inc. (“we”, “us”, “our”) operates HanaPal (ハナパル), a pollen index tracking service for Japan. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our service.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Account Information
When you create an account, we may collect your name, email address, and profile image through Google OAuth or email sign-in.
2.2 Location Data
With your permission, we collect GPS coordinates to provide localized pollen data. You may also manually enter a Japanese postal code or city name. Location data is used solely for pollen lookups and is not stored permanently.
2.3 Usage Data
We collect anonymized usage analytics (pages visited, features used) through Firebase Analytics to improve the service.
2.4 Bookmarks and Preferences
If you have an account, your saved bookmarks and language preferences are stored in our database.
3. How We Use Your Information
- Provide real-time pollen data and health recommendations for your area
- Personalize your experience (language, saved locations)
- Send push notifications if you opt in (daily alerts, pollen spike alerts)
- Improve and maintain the service
- Comply with legal obligations
4. Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services:
- Google Pollen API — Pollen data retrieval (your coordinates are sent to Google)
- Google OAuth — Authentication (governed by Google's Privacy Policy)
- OpenStreetMap Nominatim — Reverse geocoding (coordinates to address)
- Grok xAI — AI-generated health advice based on pollen conditions (pollen level data is sent to xAI)
- Firebase Analytics — Anonymous usage analytics
- Firebase Cloud Messaging — Push notifications
5. Data Security
We implement industry-standard security measures including encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS), secure database access, and environment-isolated API keys. User passwords are hashed using bcrypt.
6. Data Retention
Account data is retained as long as your account is active. Pollen data is cached temporarily (up to 1 hour) and not permanently stored. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time.
7. Your Rights
Under the Act on the Protection of Personal Information (APPI) of Japan, you have the right to:
- Access your personal data
- Request correction of inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your data
- Withdraw consent for data processing
8. Cookies
We use essential cookies for authentication sessions and locale preferences. Analytics cookies are used only with your consent.
9. Changes to This Policy
We will notify users of material changes via email at least 30 days before they take effect. Continued use of the service constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
